I use Galen Berry's paints, https://marbleart.us/, for marbling on silk scarves. The only way to thicken the paint is to add more pigment in my experience. I use Galen Berry's Marbling paints and have had excellent luck with them. I have found that inexpensive construction paper from WalMart, while curling a bit, works well for experimenting with colored papers.
